Alternative Roots Farm

Madelia, MN

Digestive Bitters have had a place on my kitchen counter for years now. I always travel with it and it's my first go to item when I have an upset tummy! We added our new Digestive Bitters to our tincture line up this winter and it has been extremely popular; even more importantly I hear how it is benefitting people. Are you familiar with bitters for digestion? Is this a part of your routine? Here is a little more about one of our newest herbal offerings! We will be growing our Organic bedding plants for your gardens again this year!! (I can hear my celery lovers cheering. :) Plants will be available at the farm store, The Greenhouse at Total Landscape (Madelia, and Bluestem Garden Works (Comfrey). Here's the final list of what we'll be growing this season. (Plants may vary by location.) Cabin fever saleis ongoing through these markets! Watch for detail about Organic Spring bedding plants! Time to run a little Cabin Fever Sale to celebrate the end of the Winter Farmers Market season and chase away the end of Winter! A few select items will be on sale both at the Farm Store, as well as at March Winter Markets! About the one time a year you'll catch some of these items on sale. March 7th and 21st will be the last time you find us at the Mankato Farmers Market until August!! (When apples come in!) This is a great time to stock up on tinctures, and build your herbal medicine cabinet. We have used herbal tinctures for many years, with great success. With proper resources we have used them for our youngest since he was born. Now that he's older I find great joy in including him in the tincture making process and and proud he will grow up with these skills. Holy Basil, Stinging Nettles, Ashwaganda, Elderberry, Willow Bark and Astragalus are featured in our offerings. Our tinctures are made from locally foraged plants, farm grown plants or purchased Organic from Mountain Rose Herbs. Do you use herbal tinctures? Are you interested in learning to make your own? Valentine's is just around the corner, which means seeds are about ready to be started in the greenhouse!!! Like seeds for spring, and the garden, not all those lush looking microgreens below!! Zesty micros, arugula micros and pea shoots are in good supply for the forseeable future!! Fresh harvests happening weekly. You can find me this coming Saturday at the Graze Co-op, downtown New Ulm. See you at the Graze Co-op from 9:00am to Noon! Have a chance to shop other products from the farm that you can't usually find on the Coop's shelves - more herbal wellness, canned goods and of course our greens!
