Amazing Vase/Niemela Farm
We're a four-generation organic family farm on 120 acres near Cokato, Minnesota. Grandpa Charlie Niemela emigrated from Finland and purchased this land in 1918 — we've been here ever since. Cheryl Niemela, a certified Master Gardener, runs the Amazing Vase cut flower operation, growing chemical-free peonies, delphiniums, rudbeckia, hydrangeas, and dozens of perennial varieties from May through September. We raise pasture-raised hogs on organic sweet corn and chemical-free, non-GMO feed — no antibiotics, no hormones — processed at French Lake Butcher Shop as whole or half hogs. Our free-range heritage breed chickens (Silver Lace Wyandotte, Barred Rock, Buff Orpington, Gold Star) provide fresh eggs year-round. We also grow OCIA Certified Organic grains — corn, soybeans, wheat, oats, and barley — and tend heirloom gardens full of San Marzano tomatoes, La Ratte fingerling potatoes, German Butterball potatoes, and Romanesco broccoli. Handmade soaps, lotions, whole grain granola, homemade jams, and fresh-pressed apple cider round out what we offer from 33 Barefoot Lane.
